Slow Down. Breathe Deeply. Find Peace.
Worries. Debts. Conflict. Deadlines. Frustration. Poor health. Constant bad news…No wonder so many people are anxious and dealing with headaches, racing thoughts, insomnia, and high blood pressure! It can feel like STRESS has shut the door on our happiness and thrown away the key.
Mindfulness Holds the Key Hi, I’m Paul Nelson. I’ve practiced and taught mindfulness for many years. One thing I’ve seen over and over again is just how easy it is to lose touch with your inner source of happiness. Stress creeps in, old habits take over, and before we know it, we barely get through the day.
As a mindfulness coach, I developed an approach to teaching mindfulness that helps you unlock the door to your happiness by directly addressing your unique needs and life stressors. I call it personalized mindfulness.
Research has shown that different mindfulness exercises are better suited for different forms of stress-related anxiety and associated symptoms.
For instance, if you tend to worry a lot and can’t fall asleep, exercises that build focused attention can be effective. On the other hand, if you're someone who's often on high alert or feeling tense, with frequent headaches, open monitoring will be a better fit for you.
Meanwhile, redirecting your attention toward positive thoughts and feelings with selective intention can help you reconnect with the wonder, peace, and delight already inside you, waiting for you to return.
I use a more practical, compassionate approach to teaching mindfulness because it offers so many benefits for both beginners and those looking to strengthen their practice.

More About Mindfulness
Awareness Skills Nature has gifted you with an amazing capacity for conscious awareness. In addition to helping you respond to danger, it also helps you to remain present, focused, and calm, no matter what’s going on in your life. Three awareness skills are key to both managing your stress and entering the Now—focused attention, open monitoring, and selective intention.
Mindfulness Exercises Like your muscles, these awareness skills need to be developed and strengthened. Mindfulness draws upon a range of both formal and informal exercises to help you build-up your awareness skills. All of these exercises are easy, even enjoyable. They include breathwork, yoga, slow eating, active listening, and forest bathing.
Essential Benefits When you’re mindful, it’s easier to move past stressful thoughts and feelings and enter the Now. Here, your body quickly relaxes. Your mind quiets. A soothing sense of peace washes over you. You might even feel some euphoria blooming inside. Immersed in this flow state, you can’t help but feel happy. Practice mindfulness often, and many other benefits come your way.
Mindfulness Works—Science Agrees Hundreds of research studies have reported on a broad range of benefits associated with mindfulness. For example, a recent analysis of 12 randomized controlled trials found that mindfulness-based interventions led to significant reductions in blood pressure, as well as decreased anxiety, depression, and perceived stress.
